Adele Vye
The work of Adele Vye intuitively draws on myth, situation and place through responsive live and documented actions. She is fascinated by notions of energy potential and transfer between beings, archetype, liminality, opposites, balance, weight, and environment in its broadest definition. The artist's greatest fascination and overwhelm with the universe is scaled down and confronted by working site specifically with her immediate and neighbouring environment. The work is achieved through a heavily process based practice where often the process is more important than, or in fact, shown as the finished piece. The artists need to complete certain actions is evident in the honest and direct outcome to her endeavours. Although most frequently emerging as documented live action, Vye's work has also materialised as installation, drawing, bookworks, print, writing, and can feature interdisciplinary and interactive elements. The work often possesses a social, political and environmental consciousness and aims to ask questions, leaving space within the work for the imagination of the viewer.
