FRAMEWORK are a collective based in Swansea, formed in September 2006, initially for artists to meet and talk about each other's work. Aware of the difficulties of being an artist in a non-centric city, key to their ethos is the need for community, interaction and addressing how artists can work together, support each other and how art has the ability to bring people together, forming temporary communities.

Framework are mostly known for the self-funded Framework Social, held in an old Social Club since May 2007. For Framework Social, artists have been invited to participate in the event in different ways. It has facilitated lively performance work, installation, poetry, book launches, interactive works and one-night residencies from emerging and more established artists alike and continues to build on a sense of community for artists in the area, enabling a sharing of ideas and the forming of new collaborations.

ELYSIUM GALLERY is an artist, volunteer run space that is committed to exhibiting and promoting the work of emerging Wales based and Wales educated artists (of all media's) whilst continuing to make links with the national arts scene.

As a gallery we strive to provide support for new artists and art organisations as well as encouraging pride and participation in local visual and performing arts in an environment that promotes experimentation, freedom and appreciation in all creative practices. This helps to regenerate and create interest in the large gap between emerging and established artists, whilst continuing to strengthen and promote the Swansea
arts scene

FERN THOMAS is an interdisciplinary artist whose intuitive, process-led investigations explore contemporary ecological, environmental and sociological issues contributing to a bigger question relating to how we live in the world.

Finding the most appropriate form to act as a vehicle for meaning, her explorations are manifested in live work, documented performance, sonic works, photography, video, drawing and participatory action.

Mythology, non-formal education, new economies and 'Social Sculpture' form an enduring influence on her work, the latter being most evident in her collaborative practice. Working within collaboration plays an important role in her practice where discussion, negotiation and community become vital for learning and sharing the processes of sustainable living.

OWEN GRIFFITHS is interested in art's potential as a vehicle for change through symbol and action. Concerned with environmental and social issues, his practice also explores the significance of food and cooking as a universal experience that can be shared and which creates a specific space where we can meet each other in a kitchen, street, or park, creating a participatory arena. Connection between feet and surface of the earth. Between societies, local and global. Between organic matter and being.

Working inside in the studio or outside on the allotment, and most importantly collaboratively through community and discussion, Griffiths work intends to address his own feelings of disconnection from the small ball on which we live together. A multi disciplinary practice comprised of image making, installation, live action and drawing enables him to try to understand the world through a series of different processes.
